I moved to PDX from Chicago just after BM last year. I've been working/living with Cafe Village of Center Camp but this year I'd rather join a local theme camp to rock out with. How do I get in touch with the ones on the list to see if I'd suit them?

Well sTEAp (who will be back in 2010) runs a tea house afternoons and a Pirate Tavern evenings-- if you like that cafe sorta thing. You'd be welcome to join us. We are pretty diverse. We have people from their 20's to their 50's. We like costuming and having fun. We also hosted burlesque, hoopers and belly dancers last year!

Other than that, just go to events around town and meet people. Are you signed up on the Portland Burning Man Announce list or discussion lists?

Thanks for the reply. sTEAp sounds pretty cool, and having worked as a barista for years and years, I'd probably be ratheruseful. What sort of infrastructure does the camp set up? Do camp members have shifts behind the bar? Do you guys do a communal kitchen for meals?

I haven't joined the Portland announce list since I'm still trying to get myself removed from the Chicago one, with no success. Do you think it would serve me well?
