A LONG-STANDING DREAM IS COMING TRUE

SOAK, LLC is transitioning to a non-profit.

SOAK LLC (the umbrella organization that has until now managed the Portland regional festival as well as our fall event, Burnout) has been working to move its operations into a nonprofit. To this end, following an open nomination process and input from an 18-member steering committee, five community members were appointed in December 2015 to a volunteer board of directors - those members were: Julia Betts, Amelia Lamb, Thomas "Tomcat" Martin, Becca Priddy, and Adrian "Cucumber" Thomas-Eikmann. The new board formally established Precipitation NW as an Oregon nonprofit corporation in March 2016 and have been working diligently since then to support current SOAK leadership; expand our skills and recruit new board members; work with Apparatus, the manager of SOAK LLC, to finalize the terms of the transition; and prepare our application to the IRS for 501(c)3 tax exemption. You can read more of our latest news on the transition here.

We are honored for this opportunity to serve the community in this new exciting chapter. We believe strongly in our role to model the 10 Principles of Burning Man, most notably Communal Effort and Civic Responsibility, and will be drafting a strategic plan to reflect this.

We welcome questions any time at board@precipitationnw.org. You can follow our news on Facebook or on this website.

Thank you for your encouragement and support through this transition.

In service,
The Precipitation NW Board of Directors
