Our Network
Precipitation Northwest works closely with members of our local and national Burner community to deliver programs and events. Our goal is to be responsive and connected to the needs and interests of the community we serve, and as such, we value the input of our volunteers and community members.
We work closely with our local Burning Man Regional Contacts (RCs), who are volunteers who are formally aligned with the Burning Man Project (BMP). BMP is based in San Francisco and is the nonprofit organization that manages the annual dusty event in Nevada many of us love. Currently there are 3 Portland-area RC’s: Tzara, Pablovex, and Shiny. RC's are carefully screened, interviewed, and selected by members of the Burning Man organization. Learn more about their role by visiting the Burning Man website here.
Generally, the role of the RC is to be a resource to their local communities who are managing BMP-sanctioned events and activities (such as SOAK, Burnout, and Town Hall Meetings), and to help them meet requirements to maintain official Regional status. They provide expertise about best practices, and to generally help burners spread the 10 Principles of Burning Man. They have no direct or indirect financial or legal responsibility to manage or produce SOAK, but their extensive knowledge, networks, and passion for all-things-burner are a huge asset and are vital to the success, sustainability, and strength of our local burner community.
